My last update was about 1.5 weeks ago. I find that hard to believe since time passed by so quickly for me.

School will be starting on the 22nd, and I should prepare now to avoid procrastination and trouble. Haha D:

Okay, so I have been getting into this anime called Hakuouki Shinsengumi Kitan that was based on the game. This new layout features two of the characters in the anime, and the image was what got me interested enough to want to watch the anime. xD I haven't watched anime in over a year, so it has been quite fun. ^^ Unfortunately, I heard that the manga adaptation (also based on the game) is terrible! So I won't be getting into that.

Falling Raindrops first began on 15 September 2009. However, I did not actively begin working and running the site until late May 2010. The original purpose that I had in mind for FR was to display my graphics, allow my visitors to use them, and provide motivation for me to improve my graphics. However, shortly after creating FR, I lost motivation several days after.

In late May 2010, I began actively running the site, starting with a new layout and a renewed purpose: FR was to be a portfolio site of my writings, art, and whatever else I have that I would like to display.

Why the change in purpose? I would have to say that I was motivated to renew my site after reading my English teacher's extra-credit assignment. And so FR was reborn.

Title: Valentine's Love v.4
Series: Hakuouki Shinsengumi Kitan
Time: 1-2 hours
Used: 06 February 2011 - Present
Comments: The only difference between this layout and version 3.5, is the main image. I found the image on Advanced Anime, and the art was what got me interested to watch the anime (which is based on the game). I have never made a Valentine themed layout before, so this was a first. However, I feel I could have done a better job than just adjusting the image colors and formating the layout. Nonetheless, I love the main image!

Comments: This layout was originally made for YYOC members as a graphic petpage layout, but I loved it so much that I decided I wanted it put onto Falling Raindrops. I used Aurora's tutorial coding, and made modifications to it. The petpage version was coded by myself, and not anchored because I heard that people could get frozen for some anchor coding. This is version 3.5 because it's a slight revamp since I haven't had a new layout put up in a while.

Title: Dreams, Hope, & Wishes v.3
Series: None
Time: 3 to 5 hours (2 days, on and off)
Used: 22 July 2010 - 25 January 2011
Comments: The drawing of the girl in the layout was by someone in Deviant Art. I was looking through my sister's picture folders and found the image. If you know who drew the girl, please let me know. I'd like to give them proper credit. As for the bicycle and flowers in front of a shop, I believe I found it as a stock image. Overall, I like this layout a lot even though it seems sort of spring-y. Unfortunately I have a thing for gray backgrounds if you may have noticed, haha! As for the coding, it is still in the same format as Gingersnaps but with slight editions by me.

Title: Seeing A New Path v.2

Comments: I was very happy and proud of this end product, partly because I have not touched Photoshop or made a layout since late 2009. I also used textures! I don't often use textures in any of my graphics. I have to give credit to Gingersnap's Funhouse layout for CSS coding, which I scarcely edited.

Comments: I have to admit, this layout was very simple. The only thing that took a lot of time was making the banner. However, in the process of coding I accidentally forgot to put "position: absolute;" and so when viewed on IE, the banner would be on the left and the content in the center.

Likes and Dislikes


I listen to songs by Marie Digby, Kelly Clarkson, Britney Spears, and Vicki Zhao (Zhao Wei). I am a big fan of Marie Digby, and I can listen to her songs over and over without getting tired of listening to her voice. I love to eat fruit, especially kiwi and watermelon, and I also like making juice slushies at home during the summer. One of my greatest pet peeves is chatspeak, and my greatest fear revolves around insects, except butterflies and ladybugs, and being at great heights.

Activities


Besides going to and fro from home to school, I have taiko lessons. You may be wondering what taiko is. Taiko, by translation, is drumming in Japanese. It is a lot of fun. I am in the Advance Beginning/Intermediate class in a group called Makoto Taiko. I have been a part of Makoto Taiko since June 2008. Before joining Makoto Taiko, I use to also be in ballet. I attended Li's Dance Studio for about a total of 9 years before I left in February 2009 for personal reasons.

Currently, I am an amateur photographer. I love taking photos that include nature, grass, and flowers.

Site Making


To begin, I have to credit my friend Cindy for introducing me to Neopets. After joining a few guilds, I noticed that many guild owners made their own layouts for their guilds, and I finally set out to make my own graphics and layouts after visiting Anime Requiem.

At the beginning, I only had MS Paint to work with. I started making graphics and learning some HTML and CSS around 2004 or 2005. In April or May 2009, due to my need of Adobe InDesign, my dad bought Adobe Design Standard CS4, and Photoshop CS4 was included in the package. Since then, I have been using Photoshop CS4 to work with most of my graphics.

Although Falling Raindrops is the first site I launched, my first site acted as a small website of activities for a guild I was in called |*Keiko*| in Neopets. I updated that site only for several months (I believe a total of three or four updates) before I left the website as the guild started becoming inactive. In late 2009, I redid the site to make it a website of activities for my own guild called Alluriana. I'm still an amateur coder and graphic designer, but I try my best at everything.

My first update of the year 2011! (That statement gives off a bad impression huh?)

Chinese New Year is coming soon (February 3rd)! I'm currently on winter break, but I will be going back to school soon - February 22nd to be exact. Since the start of winter break, I haven't written anything out except site ideas and some dreams I have had. The latest dream I have had (that I can remember after waking up) includes shrunk people, cats, and rooms full of sand.

I'm thinking about revamping this site - I feel that I need to get rid of some of the graphics I have in my portfolio because they are poor-quality, and I have improved.. like that icon I have up there. :3 That was made today, with the help of some tutorials. I'll probably do that over the course of the week.

EDIT// I revamped the site! I didn't need a week to update, but I did use up lots of hours just organizing everything. This new layout took 2-3 hours (coding included), and features Soah from Min-Hyung Yun's Bride of the Water God, a manhwa. This layout is originally a petpage layout for YYOC members, but I love this too much. I'll make a new layout soon though! I still have to work on some little kinks, but otherwise... -jumps joyfully- ^_^

It's funny I found time to do make the banner (drag to tab or top of window) because I don't have time! I should be working on finishing up my English assignments, but as you can see I got distracted.. Photoshop hasn't been touched for several months. Well, toodles until my next update!

I know, I know.. It was going to be two months of no updates, nothing new to read or see. But here I am! I'm just popping in to tell you that I am alive (thank goodness!). College started about a week after my last post, and I've been at school ever since! Also, I have limited access at home. I don't remember if I already said that or not.. that shows how much I love and know my site, huh? But anyway, I barely go on the internet anymore except to check my e-mail and Facebook and perhaps unwind by paying a brief visit to Neopets. Oh, and I have other outside activities (aikido) now in addition to my taiko. Meh.

So, this is it for a couple of months. My semester ends around December 18th, and I am free until mid-February. Hopefully there will be something done between those times, haha. ;)

I got something written, and it sure isn't a story!

Instead of writing a story, I ended up with a poem! ;) I'm pretty proud of myself since I (honestly) didn't even work on any writing at all since that Dream one-shot. So, the new poem is up in the Written - Poems section. I know I said I would also include the other updates I had previously so.. there's a rose and chu-daiko pixel for you cool neat people! :) It isn't much but I felt accomplished when I completed those pixels last month.

I haven't visited that blog so there hasn't been any "figuring out the kinks" yet. Otherwise, I'm thinking if I don't figure out the kinks, I'll put the blog somewhere else than the place I currently have it.. Well, until next time folks!

Not exactly a month since my last update, but I got home from my Canada trip about 2 nights ago. The trip was a great experience although on the flights to Vancouver, I had a tight stomach from the thought of entrusting my life (along with the other hundred people on the plane) to the few pilots at the front. The flight back to the US was much better, though I was feeling a little down for having to leave after 2 weeks of spending time with the distant relatives.

On the other hand, I actually did have something to update the site with, but I think when I'm done with one of my stories I will post those other things up. That is, hopefully, if I ever finish a story. ;)

It has been 7 days since the new change in layout, and I have nothing to produce to demonstrate that I have been busy with making graphics.. *sigh*

On one hand, I will be leaving to Canada next Wednesday. This time, it's real. My mom and I went to a travel agency to book the airline tickets. There is a possibility that there may be no internet where I will be staying, in addition to being allowed to take the laptop with me.

I have been debating on having a blog for FR. It was only several days ago that I was trying to work out the kinks in the layout and I still haven't figured the kinks out though.. It's complicated. Also, I found that I sort of sound very personal when I write these sitely blogs when I compare them to other sites.

Woah, holy smokes! There's a new layout!! *squeal*

Yes! FR has been updated after *erm* over a month of no updates. Sorry! (That last site blog doesn't quite count..). Anyhow, more things are sure to come.. hopefully. I still have to write out at least one of my stories/dreams..

Updates about that Canada trip? My mom and I will be on our way on Sunday at 3 or 4AM! I am pretty excited since I haven't been out of the country for over 10 years. It is pretty amazing, if you think about it. Back then people had to walk all over the place - like the cavemen (or the other homo-what-cha-call-its) traveled to hunt for food going from Africa to Europe and all around.

On another note, there is a blog coming soon! I am currently working on the layout so I hope I can get it done as I work on a layout for Makoto Taiko. Once the blog can be up and shown to public I will remove my previous updates and move it there! ^_^ Oh, by the way, the icon below the date is not made by me. Updates: Fixed links in Writings - Dream.
So.. I meant to update this site as much as I could but there were some events. Graduation was fun! However, I have yet to receive my diploma, and I think it shouldn't be taking this long (over 1 month) since many of my friends have already received their diploma.. After Grad Night, I went out with Eunice, Christina, and Luci to Denny's and I had a vanilla milkshake. We slept over at Christina's house after dropping Eunice off at her house.. FUN! I honestly have never slept over at anyone else's house besides for vacation reasons.. There was also the 2010 Makoto Taiko annual concert - that was just okay. There was quite a lot of people and Koji (taiko teacher, director of Makoto Taiko) said it was the first time Makoto Taiko had a full house! Anyway, besides that, my dad has been taking the internet off on most weekdays..

Also, I think I will begin a blog site for FR. That way, if people would like to comment, they can. Or sign a guestbook, I guess. I think this would work well.

In addition, I visited Pasadena City College on Tuesday to schedule a counseling appointment. On Wednesday I biked to PCC! I feel so accomplished for biking a total of 18.8 miles after not exercising for about a month (last was biking to Shumei in Pasadena, about 8 miles). Luckily for me, going back home was pretty easy since it was all down hill.

Some other news.. I may leave for Canada on the 19th of this month after doing my PCC group counseling and getting classes. (I hope I can get into the classes I want! I really want to take American Sign Language but it seems I can't due to taiko practice in the evening.. :( dang it.)

That's it for now. I actually did do some banners during graduation but I never got back to working on that big project I had in mind.. So instead of working on banners, I have decided to work on my stories.. I have yet to write my dreams out.

From my laptop screen, this layout looks perfect, but I noticed that when I was on other computers the layout looked pretty messed up with the background color not matching the color of my layout picture. Unfortunately, there are so many screens out there that I can't exactly change the colors to match.. Perhaps on some other day I will figure out the correct matched color that goes with my layout picture.. I may start writing my little dreams out or posting a few chapters of something I started back around January. Photographs of my old artwork may be up to display soon, if I can find a camera or figure out how to use the scanner. (: Camellia found some of my old artwork. I was very surprised.. and graduation is just around the corner!
